Standing by Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K V Thangkabalu’s April 14 expulsion of 19 party workers for alleged anti-party activities, party media department chairman Janardhan Dwivedi has said PCCs have the authorisation to do so.

“Mr. Thangkabalu has the authority to expel the 19 members for indulging in anti-party activities,” the TNCC said in a statement here, quoting Mr. Dwivedi.

On April 14, Mr. Thangkabalu had expelled 19 persons, including former Chennai Deputy Mayor ‘Karate’ S Thyagarajan and actor-politician S Ve Shekher, who had quit AIADMK earlier, for “anti-party activities”.
