Teacher held for robbery

A government school teacher was arrested on charges of robbery and chain snatching on Tuesday.

Hosur Inspector S. Suresh Kumar said that P. Madhan Maran, working as secondary teacher in a Panchayat Union Middle School in Pakkalapalli, near Vanyambadi, was arrested in Hosur. The police recovered 8.5 sovereigns of gold chain from him. Madhan Maran used to waylay people and rob them of valuables and snatch chains from women. He was caught by people in Kolar in Karnataka for robbery and was later identified by the victims in Pernampat and Hosur.

He was produced before Meena Chandra, Judicial Magistrate II, in Hosur on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody.
