The Principal Sessions Judge, Chennai, P. Devadoss, on Friday ordered issue of summons to three former AIADMK Ministers and the party's advocates' wing secretary to appear before the court on June 22 in connection with a complaint of defamation.

In his complaint, the City Public Prosecutor alleged that the four had defamed Chief Minister, M.Karunanidhi. The complainant said at the instance of O.Panneerselvam, K.A.Sengottaiyan and D.Jayakumar, former Ministers and P.H.Manoj Pandian, the party's advocates' wing secretary, a news item had been published in newspapers that the AIADMK had written to the Election Commission alleging that the State government had ordered shifting of various departments to the new Secretariat complex to destroy important documents and files. This order was in blatant violation of the model code of conduct. The EC was requested to take steps in the matter. The complainant had prayed the court to take the complaint on file and punish the four persons. Accordingly, the court ordered issue of summons.
