Sudarssanam admitted to hospital in Coimbatore

Congress Legislature Party leader in the Assembly, D. Sudarssanam, was admitted to a private hospital here early on Friday with a complaint of heavy bleeding.

He had undergone a prostate gland surgery a few days ago in Chennai.

Chairman of the Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital, Nalla G. Palanisamy, said the 67-year-old Congress leader was brought to the hospital around 2.40 a.m. Emergency measures to arrest the bleeding were taken up immediately.

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Transport Minister K.N. Nehru, and other Ministers visited the hospital.

Specialists from Chennai flew in to Coimbatore in the afternoon.

Union Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu and MLA S. Peter Alphonse were at the hospital.
