On a hectic Sunday morning at the Parappana Agrahara prison complex, senior leaders of the AIADMK, including O. Paneerselvam met party general secretary Jayalalithaa. At 11 a.m. adviser to the TN government, Sheela Balakrishnan was seen making her way into the prison complex.
Sources in AIADMK said a whip has issued to all MLAs to be present in Chennai for the legislative party's meeting, likely to be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Mr. Paneerselvam, after his morning meeting with Jayalalithaa left Bangalore at around 9 a.m.
Other leaders present in the prison complex were Natham R. Vishwanathan, Edappadi K. Palaniswamy, Vaithilingam and Senthil Balaji.
Reports suggested Mr. Paneerselvam's residence in Chennai was being spruced up by the PWD, though there hasn't been official confirmation on the same.
Sources confirmed that Jayalalithaa's lawyers will move the Karnataka High Court for her bail and to seek a stay on the conviction.
AIADMK sources said they are considering approaching senior advocate Ram Jethmalani to represent Jayalalithaa in her appeal.
