Twelve-year-old S. Rahul Ganesh, a Class VI student of Sri Narayani Vidyalaya at Thirumalaikkodi near here and resident of nearby Ariyoor village, began an education awareness bicycle tour by pedalling his way to Kattuputhur village in Kaniyambadi panchayat union on Wednesday.

He is on a mission to create awareness among villagers of the need to educate their children by admitting them in schools.

Accompanied by his father M. Somu, Ganesh went to Kattuputhur on Wednesday and distributed pamphlets with messages highlighting the importance of education.

He started his tour by distributing a pamphlet to K. Viswanathan, president of Kattuputhur village panchayat. He later went door to door on his bicycle to spread the message. He also went to agricultural fields and grazing land and met farmers and cattle-grazers, including boys and girls of school-going age.

He later went to Kuppam village and continued his tour there.
