Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has expressed hope that there would not be any problem with respect to availability of Cauvery water this year as there has been widespread rain in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the past few days.
He made the observation in a brief chat with media persons after offering worship at Tirunageswaram Temple near Kumbakonam on Saturday. He later visited Oppiliappankoil.
There he assured Raya Govindarajan, chairman of Renovation Committee of the temple, that he would donate Rs.1 crore for various works taken up in the temple like creating images of 108 Divya Desams in the temple, Anjaneyar Kavasam, diamond Kavasam to the Lord and Markandeya Kavasam.
Later he visited Prathyankara Devi Temple at Ayyavadi and Suryanarkoil, Navagrahakshetra for Sun God.
He said that he would donate Rs.50 lakh for Suryanarkoil for taking up various works. Later he left for Vaideeswarankoil and Tirunallar.
Black flag
Four persons, belonging to the Naam Tamizhar Iyakkam and Dravidar Kazhagam, were taken into custody at Tirunallar after they showed black flags to Mr. Yeddyurappa in protest against Karnataka's “failure to release water in the Cauvery.”
