The children belong to Kattunayakkan community selling beads in temple festivals.

The orphanage admitted the children a few years ago, as the parents were unable to maintain them.

The siblings were studying in St. Mary’s Primary School near the home in Murasancode. It was alleged that they were admitted to the home against their wish, hence, they ran away. The children were produced before a court.
