The Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME)-Development Institute, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, Chennai, is organising a one-week training programme on ‘Spirulina Cultivation and Value Added Products’ from August 1 to 5 for the benefit of the MSMEs.

A press release from K. Kandasamy, Assistant Director (G and C), stated that the programme would cover introduction to algae, functions of spirulina, spirulina culture and production, harvest and post-harvest technology, innovative national and international marketing.
Value added produces
Value added produces were spirulina tablet, capsule, powder, jam, juice and appalam, spirulina cake, noodle, chocolates, cookies, biscuits, nutraceuticals and cosmetics.
Also, spirulina processing, liquid weed fertilizer and natural colour extraction, product quality would also be dealt during the training programme.
The release said that the training in spirulina cultivation and value-added products would provide ample opportunities for self-employment, jobs in MSMEs, multinational corporations, private limited companies and corporate companies as technician and adviser.
Certificates
The trainees would be issued the Government of India certificates on completion of training.
The training would be held at Algae Research Institute, No. 6, Loganathan Nagar, 1{+s}{+t}Street, 100 Feet Road, Choolaimedu, Chennai 94.
