The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and its ally, the Congress, on Friday expressed confidence that the CBI searches at the premises of the former Union Communications Minister, A. Raja, and his kin and friends in the 2G spectrum allocation case would not strain their electoral ties.
“Why should it [strain the relationship],” quipped Kanimozhi, Member of Parliament and Chief Minister and DMK president M. Karunanidhi's daughter, when asked whether the probe would affect the alliance.
Ms. Kanimozhi said the DMK would come out clean in the entire episode. It would cooperate with the agency, and this was the stand of her party chief. “Let the law take its own course. To prove that you are not guilty, you have to go through the due process of law,” she said.
Ms. Kanimozhi welcomed the Supreme Court order on Thursday to widen the scope of the investigation to cover the telecom policy followed from 2001 to 2008 by both the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and UPA regimes.
