Inquiry on into acid attack case

VELLORE: A week after a woman police constable sustained injuries in an acid attack at Tirupattur, the police have been conducting investigation to nab the accused.

Police sources said a realtor, who was picked up for inquiry, has confessed to being involved in the attack. However, the motive was yet to be established. The police are on the lookout for a few others in the case.

A senior police official said that inquiry was being held with a number of persons and no arrest had been made till now.

Lavanya (29), a constable attached to the Armed Reserve Police, was deputed to the All-Woman Police Station, Tirupattur. On the night of December 23, she was returning home after duty when bike-borne assailants threw acid on her. She sustained injuries on her face.
