Global bids for financial city by month-end

Several firms have shown interest: Industries Secretary

The State government will float international competitive bids for financial city by the month-end to finalise partners, said Industries Secretary Rajeev Ranjan on Tuesday.

Talking to reporters, he said the financial city was coming up near Chennai with private participation. The bids would also be for development of 25 acres, development of the entire city and to finalise the layout plan and the integrated township.

“Several firms have shown interest in setting up their base in the financial city. We are working out the price at which the land can be offered to them. It is also proposed to have entertainment and Animation Park,” he said.

On the proposed Aero Park, he said it was planned to be put up at four places to take care of different types of activities such as design, engineering and manufacture of components and maintenance, repair and overhaul facility (MRO).

The park would have a complete eco-system and component manufacturing facility near Chennai and MRO complex near Chennai and Hosur.

Mr. Ranjan said country-specific industrial parks for Japanese firms with complete eco-system would come up at Vallam. Various other countries had also evinced interest.
