Gifts case: Jayalalithaa's petition dismissed

A Special Court for CBI cases here on Tuesday dismissed petitions filed by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and two others, seeking discharge from the ‘gifts case' against her. The court has posted the case for framing of charges on May 11.

Besides Ms. Jayalalithaa, former Transport Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan and former Local Administration Minister Azhagu Thirunavukkarasu have been cited as accused.

The prosecution case was that Ms. Jayalalithaa accepted 89 demand drafts for Rs.2 crore, on her birthday in 1992.
