Five killed; 11 injured in bus-lorry collision near Dharmapuri

Five persons were killed in a private omni bus-lorry collision near Dharmapuri on Sunday. The diseased include the bus driver Mr. Natraj, 42, hailing from Marandaalli in Dharmapuri district, and a three-year-old male child.

A professor working in Azhagappa University was also one among the deceased. A male and a female body were yet to be identified. At least 11 persons were rescued and admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Dharmapuri. Out of which, injured lorry driver’s condition is said to be critical.

The accident took place near the Kundalpatti-National Highway No. 7 near Dharmapuri in the evening.

While the private bus was on its way to Madurai from Bangalore, the lorry laden with plywood was proceeding towards Krishnagiri.

The list of injured persons admitted in Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital were:

John (21), Prio Partha (21) from Manipur, Ramachandran (31) Madurai, Senthil Murugan (31), Bhavani, Senthil Vadivu (37) Madurai, Lakshmi (50) Thirumangalam,, Rajeswari (60) Madurai, Satya Bama (50), Paramakudi, her husband Rajendran (60) Paramakudi, Hameed and his wife Mazood (parents of diseased Master Yasin).

The Madhikonpalayam police have registered a case and are investigating.
