The XI Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet, Chennai has granted conditional bail to W. Williams, a Dutch national arrested in November last year on charges of uploading pornographic pictures of children on the Internet .
Metropolitan Magistrate, Sriraman, granted bail on Monday to Williams on conditions that he should appear before the investigation officer at City Cyber Crime Cell every Monday and sign the register and execute personal bond worth Rs.1 lakh with sureties of Rs.10,000 each from two persons since the City Cyber Crime Cell failed to file the charge sheet within the mandatory 90-day period, according to Assistant Public Prosecutor Panneerselvam.
However, the accused had not complied with the conditions till Tuesday to avail the conditional bail granted to him by the Magistrate Court, he said.
Enquiries reveal that the city police and Kancheepuram district police were likely to move the court to seek detention of Williams in the special camp at Chengalpattu or at the erstwhile TADA Court prison at Poonamallee since Williams, who was arrested in connection with sexual abuse of children at the orphanage run by him at Pooncheri near Mamallapuram in 2002, had jumped bail subsequently.
