The feast following the ‘Tirukkalyanam' (celestial wedding) between Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar, which is the main event of Meenakshi Temple's Chithirai festival, will be held at Setupati Higher Secondary School on North Veli Street.

The celestial wedding is on Saturday (April 16) and the feast will be held at the school between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. by Pazamudhir Solai Thiru Murugan Bhaktha Sabhai, which has been offering the feast to devotees for over a decade now. A shamiana spread across 12,000 square feet is being erected on the school premises and preparations are under way to host over 60,000 devotees, according to a press note from the Sabhai. The feast will feature all local delicacies.

For this feast, truck loads of vegetables and plantain leaves have been offered by traders from Paravai and Mattuthavani. Rice will be provided by the Sabhai and devotees. Those wishing to donate grocery items to the wedding feast can do so on Thursday at Setupati School from 10 a.m.

The task of preparing the vegetables for the feast will commence on Friday at 4 p.m. in the school's Ramana Hall. Those who wish to offer their service in preparing the feast should bring the tools, such as knives, to cut vegetables.
