Cauvery Asset achieves production target of 1.42 million metric tonnes

Cauvery Asset of ONGC has achieved a production target of 1.42 million metric tonnes of oil and oil equivalent of gas for the last fiscal of 2009-10. This includes a break-up production of 650 tonnes of oil and about 3 million cubic meters of gas per day, said A.Vazeerullah, executive director, Cauvery Asset at a programme to distribute financial assistance here on the ONGC premises recently. The programme organised under the ONGC Cauvery Asset's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative witnessed distribution of funds to the tune of Rs.33.48 lakh.

According to a release, over two percent of ONGC's net profit has been earmarked for CSR activities. For the current year of 2010-11,Rs.250 lakh has been alloted under the CSR Scheme. Education, besides community health has been of particular focus , said Mr.Vazeerullah.

ONGC is also constructing various approach roads and bridges in rural segments.

Cauvery Asset has been engaged in exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, which includes districts of Karaikal, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Thanjavur and Ramnad. The basin covers an area of 27,850 square kilometre onshore and 30,000 square kilometre offshore. A major portion of gas is utilised for power generation.

A cheque of Rs.25 lakhs was handed over to District Collector, Nagapattinam towards development of Nagapattinam Beach. ONGC had contributed Rs.6.50 lakh for high mast lamps at Nagapattinam last year, the release said.
