Call to join hands to establish Classical Tamil Chair at Harvard

Educationists, Tamil scholars and philanthropists participated in a special discussion on establishing Classical Tamil Chair at Harvard University at the Periyar University premises here on Wednesday.

C. Swaminathan, Vice-Chancellor, Periyar University, in his presidential address stated that all should be proud of Tamil language, one of the seven classical languages of the world.

\He said that the main objective of the project is to promote Tamil at the international level.

All sections of the society should join hands to establish a Classical Tamil Chair at Harvard University.

Two medical professionals from the U.S. - Janagiraman, a cardiologist, and Thirugnanasamantham, cancer specialist, were the chief guests.

Together, these two medical practitioners have got permission from Harvard University for establishing Classical Tamil Chair in its campus.
