Bonus for State-run transport corporations

September 21, 2009 08:50 pm | Updated 08:50 pm IST - CHENNAI:

One lakh and twenty three thousand employees of State-run transport corporations will get 8.33 per cent bonus and 11.67 per cent ex-gratia. This will cost a total of Rs. 97 crore to the exchequer, according to K.N. Nehru, Transport Minister.

After chairing nearly a four-hour-long meeting with representatives of over two dozen unions, Mr. Nehru said the unions accepted the government’s move. They had demanded a 25 per cent bonus and ex-gratia. But, considering financial constraints, the government decided to provide 20 per cent.
