The Bharatiya Janata Party will announce, by the month-end, its strategy for the State Assembly elections, State unit president Pon Radhakrishnan said here on Friday.
The party's ‘rath yatra' to highlight its campaign demanding education assistance for caste Hindus in an impartial manner, arrived here earlier in the day.
Talking to reporters at Round Tana here, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the party's national president Nitin Gadkari would address a massive rally in Chennai on January 29 to press its demand for justice to Hindus.
He said the Congress claimed to be secular but had denied educational scholarships to Hindu students, who comprised 85 per cent of students in the country. “Economically weaker sections of caste Hindus should also be entitled to assistance being rendered by the government for education on a par with the minorities.”
He faulted the Central and State governments for offering benefits to Christians and Muslims for several years. The governments should extend similar benefits to poor caste Hindus.
Mr. Radhakrishnan, who will travel in the rath, will address people at different points.
He will address a public meeting at Thaly.
The Lotus Yatra will resume its journey at Bagalur on Sunday morning and reach Hosur via Berigai. At the end of the yatra, Mr. Radhakrishnan will address a public meeting near M.G. Road in Hosur on Sunday evening, party sources here said.
Earlier, while replying to a question, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the party was strong in the State and would display its might in the coming elections. It would announce whether it would contest the elections on its own or in alliance with any other party.
“Corruption is deep-rooted in the State under the DMK rule,” he said.
