Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday expressed happiness over the development of Rajya Sabha adopting the Women's Reservation Bill.

Terming the reservation as a fruit, Mr. Karunanidhi, in a statement, likened the scheme of quota within quota to eating pulp segment of the fruit. “Now, we have got the fruit, when required, we will decide who should get what.” Congratulating Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in separate telegrams, the Chief Minister said: “A new chapter opens for the Indian women's empowerment and a new way opens for a flourishing true democracy in India.”
