Opposition AIADMK and MDMK on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Tamil Nadu Assembly after Speaker R. Avudaiyappan denied permission to raise an issue on the alleged encounter killing of a key accused in the kidnap and murder of two school children in Coimbatore.

Soon after the question hour, when the Deputy Leader of the Opposition O. Panneerselvam demanded that the issue be taken up for discussion immediately, the Speaker refused permission.

Mr. Avudaiyappan said the issue could be taken up for discussion after a formal requisition was received from the members.

However, AIADMK and MDMK members staged a walkout.
