61 held for ticketless travel

A special team of the commercial branch of the Salem Railway Division along with the personnel of the Railway Protection Force conducted a special ticket checking drive throughout the Friday night at Erode Railway Junction and booked 61 persons for travelling without a valid ticket.

On the direction of Viju Vin, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, the officials team led by M. Rajeshwaran, chief ticket checking inspector, conducted the special drive in the running trains and also in the railway junction premises from 8 p.m. on Friday to 4 a.m. on Saturday. A total of 61 persons were booked for travelling without tickets and ₹ 21,050 was collected as ticket fare and penalty from them.

Hari Shankar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem, commended the officials of the commercial branch and the RPF for organising the special drive throughout the night. He directed similar special checks to prevent travelling without tickets.

The DRM called upon passengers to travel in trains with valid tickets.
