Police have seized 608 spurious liquor bottles from an abandoned car during vehicle check conducted near Paapaakudi on Wednesday night.

When a police team was conducting vehicle check at Kabaalipaarai near Paapaakudi on Wednesday night, they intercepted a car for checking.

On seeing the police team, the occupants of the car stopped it at a distance and escaped.

The police checked the abandoned vehicle and seized 608 spurious liquor bottles.

When a police team, led by Inspector Thillai Nagarajan of Perumalpuram conducted vehicle check at V.M. Chathram on April 15 last, they seized 5,670 spurious liquor bottles, all smuggled into the district from Villupuram.

In bars

It was then found that the spurious liquor bottles were being stocked in a few bars attached to the liquor outlets to be sold to customers who consumed liquor in the bars.

Hence, the seizure of spurious liquor has once again proved that this profitable business has resurfaced in the western parts of the district.
