Following the timely action taken by Assistant Director of National Commission for Scheduled Castes P. Ramasamy and the follow-up action by district-level Adi Dravida Welfare officials, 48 out of the 50 B. Ed graduates who completed their degree course at RVS College of Education two months ago received their degree certificates here on Monday.

Mr. Ramasamy, during his visit to the district on September 2 to inquire about various cases of atrocities against Dalits in Oddanchatram, Gandhigram, Viralipatti in Nilakottai block, had also inquired about a complaint from Dalit students of RVS College of Education. In the complaint the students had stated that degree certificates had not been issued to 50 Dalit students even two months after completion of the course.

They had also demanded payment of fees and other charges. After spot inquiry, Mr. Ramasamy advised district-level Adi Dravida Welfare officials to look into the matter and settle their grievances.

The officials interacted with the college management and convinced it to issue certificates to the students.
