445 get placement orders

Four hundred and forty five educated youths got placement orders in a special employment camp conducted by the Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Movement of the Mahalir Thittam at the Women’s Christian College here on Saturday.

An official from Mahalir Thittam told The Hindu that placement orders were issued by companies from Chennai, Coimbatore and Thiruvananthapuram.

A majority of those who got employment were women and their salary ranged from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000 a month.

Twenty three companies from across the State and Thiruvananthapuram participated in the camp along with a few overseas recruitment companies.

Technicians chosen for oil rigs in Gulf countries were offered a monthly salary of Rs. 60, 000.

As many as 1,431 candidates participated in the camp from across the district. Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan gave away placement orders to 28 candidates.
