32 examination toppers honoured in Tuticorin district

Sterlite Copper, a unit of Vedanta Limited, honoured 32 district toppers in Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination with certificates and cash awards to the tune of Rs.7 lakh under its ‘Sterlite Scholastic Excellence Awards’ programme at Subbiah Vidyalayam Girls Higher Secondary School here recently.

M. Ramakrishanan, Chief Educational Officer, Tuticorin district, and P. Ramnath, CEO, Sterlite Copper (Copper Business of Vedanta Limited), Tuticorin, presented the certificates and the cash awards to the meritorious students and schools that produced the outstanding students.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramakrishanan lauded the efforts being made by Sterlite Copper in motivating and financially assisting the underprivileged children to realise their dream of higher education.

Mr. Ramnath said Sterlite was committed to empowering communities around its place of operations and these awards were a continuation of the company’s pledge to nation-building through the youth of the country.

This is the seventeenth edition of ‘Sterlite Scholastic Excellence Awards’ for the Tuticorin district toppers in SSLC and Plus Two. Nine Plus Two students and 23 SSLC students received the awards.

While the Plus Two students got Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000, the SSLC students received Rs. 25,000, Rs. 20,000 and Rs.15,000 respectively.
