As many as 23,120 beneficiaries were given gold coins under the ‘Thalikku Thangam’ scheme and marriage assistance of Rs. 83.22 crore was disbursed during the last four years in Kanyakumari district, said Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan here recently.
Mr. Chavan distributed gold coins to 1,105 beneficiaries hailing from all the nine panchayat unions in the district. Marriage assistance of Rs. 5 crore was also distributed to the beneficiaries at a function held at Luis Braille meeting hall on the Collectorate campus.
Former Minister and Kanyakumari MLA K.T. Pachaimal, Nagercoil MLA Nanjil A. Murugesan, District Panchayat Chairman M.S. Sarathamani, Revenue Divisional Officer Madhyazhagan, District Supply Officer S.M. Suresh, District Social Welfare Officer K. Uma Maheshwari were present.
