22 injured as TNSTC bus rams lorry

Twenty-two persons were injured when a speeding Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus rammed a parcel service lorry here on Monday.

Police said Durgairaj, driver of the TNSTC bus proceeding from Tiruchi to Tirunelveli, lost control over the vehicle when it was crossing the bridge over the Tamirabharani on North Bypass Road here.

Besides the bus driver, 20 passengers and parcel service lorry driver Arumugam were also injured and rushed to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.

The police and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.

The condition of the injured is said to be “stable.”
