21 students injured

A school van hit an electric post and upturned in the impact, injuring 21 children and the driver, here at Pillaiperuvaasal on Tuesday evening.

The van of Good Shepherd English School was carrying 30 children and two teachers, when it hit an electric post. Of the 21 injured, three have suffered minor head injuries, and have been referred to the Puducherry Institute of Medical Sciences.

On visiting the Karaikal government hospital, Collector in-charge J.Ashok Kumar said that the three children were referred to PIMS only as a precautionary measure, and they were conscious.

Others have suffered minor injuries . The driver, who has also been referred to PIMS is said to have sped-up causing the accident. Some children were being discharged from the hospital.
