‘200 Aavin parlours planned across State’

MD says those in Palani and Dindigul will be modernised soon

PALANI

A total of 200 Aavin parlours would be opened across the State to boost sale of Aavin milk products, said Aavin Managing Director C. Kamaraj.

Presiding over the inauguration of an Aavin parlour here on Sunday, he said that the parlours would be opened in colleges, tourist spots, bus stands, combined court complexes and other places where people gathered in large numbers.

Infrastructure facility at the chilling plant in Palani would improved at an estimated cost of ₹30 lakh soon. Similarly, infrastructure development works would be taken up at Dindigul Aavin chilling plant at an estimated cost of ₹22 lakh, he added.

At present, Dindigul plant had been procuring 58,000 litres of milk and local consumption was only 14,000 litres. It had also been sending 15,000 litres of milk to Chennai and 22,000 litres to Kerala.

Besides, it had been selling 4.5 tonnes of ghee to Sri Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple administration, and the local sale was 500 litres.

He said the air-conditioned Aavin parlour, established in Palani at a cost of ₹87.10 lakh – ₹67.10 lakh contributed by Dindigul union and ₹20 lakh by the State.

District Revenue Officer P. Velu also spoke.
