Two workers engaged in desilting an irrigational well were killed, when they suddenly slipped, near Chengam on Sunday.
Chinnappaiyyan (57) and Palani (35) were part of four member crew desilting the irrigational well situated in one Chinnaraj’s agricultural land in Paramananthal village near Chengam.
They were inside the well and sending out the debris with the help in buckets fixed to a pulley on top.
After finishing their work, Chinnappaiyan and Palani attempted to climb up using the same bucket. When the bucket was being pulled up the rope snapped unexpectedly and the duo fell into the well.
Lost balance
The workers who were pulling the bucket also lost balance and fell into the well. All the four were taken to a hospital and Chinnappaiyyan and Palani died. Chengam police are investigating.
