2 women killed

Two women, walking on the roadside were killed and four others travelling in a van suffered injuries when the van ran amok after tyre burst near Vairavanpatti in Manamadurai SIPCOT police limit.

Police said the victims, identified as N. Malaiammal (40) and Indirani (30), from Periyakottai, were walking on the roadside to the temple on Friday when the van hit them. Malaiammal died on the spot and Indirani succumbed to the injuries at the medical college hospital.

Chellaiah and others were returning in the van after offering worship at the temple in Vairavanpatti, when the driver lost control of the vehicle after the front tyre burst. All the injured were admitted to medical college hospital.
