2 policemen suspended

May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:09 am IST - Ramanathapuram:

Sivaganga SP M. Durai, who is in-charge of Ramanathapuram district, has placed under suspension two policemen in the district and transferred a youth brigade on a charge of bringing disrepute to the police force.

Police sources said Poovendran, a constable at Theriruveli police station, and Sathyendran, head constable at Perunali police station, were held up by the villagers in Pasumpon, who suspected them to be ‘goat lifters’, on the night of April 3. The policemen, who fled the village leaving behind their two-wheeler, went back with Vadivel Murugan, a youth brigade, to bring back the vehicle. But the villagers caught hold of them.
