₹2 crore seized from vehicle used by DMK, VCK members in Perambalur

It is suspected that the cash could have been transported for distribution to voters.

Election officials seized about ₹2 crores from a vehicle in which a group of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and DMK members were travelling near Maruvathur in Perambalur district on Tuesday night.

On suspicion, a highway patrol and a Static Surveillance Team had stopped a car driven by Maras (30) of Pattinapakkam in Chennai.

During the check, the officials reportedly found the cash concealed inside the vehicle.

J. Thangadurai (30), former Perambalur district secretary of VCK and N. Prabhakar, State deputy secretary of labour wing of the DMK, were among those in the vehicle. Further investigation is on.
