About 1.60 lakh engineering graduates in Tamil Nadu remain unemployed, said School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan here on Saturday.
Speaking at a function held on the campus of AAA College of Engineering and Technology at Amathur near here to present awards to 35 ‘best teachers’ in 10 southern districts, he said that the School Education department devised an innovative tool to prepare the Plus Two students for employment by boosting their self-confidence. Hence additional 12 chapters would be included to improve their skills.
The Minister said CBSE officials appreciated the revamped school syllabus. The objective was to prepare the students to face the competitive examinations with ease.
With the GST regime in place, there had been a demand for chartered accountants. So it had planned to select 25,000 students from the Commerce stream and prepare them for the CA entrance examination.
By September about 3,000 schools in the the State would have Smart Classrooms for students studying ninth to Plus Two. He said that 848 government schools in the State had less than 10 students and 33 schools had no students at all. But instead of closing them, steps were being taken to enrol students in thiose schools.
Toilet cleaning machine
As many as 1,000 vehicles with machines to clean toilets would be imported from Germany through Rotary Clubs. One machine can clean 20 toilets, he added.
Dairy Development Minister Rajendra Bhalaji, senior IAS officers Pradeep Yadav and Sudalaikannan and Collector A. Sivagnanam were present.
