Minister for School Education and Sports and Youth Welfare K.A. Sengottaiyan has said that 12 Atal Tinkering Laboratories will be established in the State which would help in creating and nurturing scientific temper and innovation among young children.

Addressing media persons here on Saturday, he said that a private company had been assigned the task of implementing the Centrally sponsored scheme in the State and works have already begun.

‘More labs needed’

He said the 12 laboratories would be insufficient for the State and the government had requested the Centre to establish laboratories in all the constituencies. About 10% of the students, roughly 12 lakh, suffered from learning disability and they will be provided special training from December 15.

On coaching for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), he said students should register their names with the school headmaster or in the education department website. Identity cards would be provided to the students and they would be trained for three hours on Saturdays and Sundays, he added.

On preparing the students for the competitive examinations conducted by the Central government, Mr. Sengottaiyan said that 54 teachers were sent to Andhra Pradesh for training and these teachers would train 3,000 more teachers.
