Three Olive Ridley turtles were found washed ashore dead here off Vedaranyam on Thursday. The Olive Ridleys were found dead along the stretch between Arcottuthurai and Maniantheevu here.

The coast provides an ideal nesting ground for the Olive Ridleys that frequent the stretch between November and March.

The number of Olive Ridley casualties due to injuries caused by propellers of boats is high each year.

The dead turtles were sent for an autopsy by the forest department.
