Supreme Court may hear Delhi’s petition on Monday

February 21, 2016 11:32 pm | Updated 11:32 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

As the national capital faces a water crisis, the Supreme Court is likely to hear on Monday a Delhi government plea for the Centre to intervene and ensure uninterrupted water supply from Munak Canal in Haryana under siege from Jat agitators demanding reservation.

The Delhi government had moved the petition on Saturday night, saying water plants in the capital are shut as there is no raw water coming from the canal.

Sixty percent of Delhi’s water supply comes from the Munak canal.

“Water should be supplied immediately to Delhi as it is lifeline of people,” the petition said.
