A teenage girl was allegedly gang raped and thrown out of a train in the Lakhisarai district of Bihar on Thursday. She was found in a critical condition on Friday near the Lakhisarai railway station on the railway track. One of the two main accused persons in the case has been arrested.

“We have arrested one of the two main accused in the case...but a few others are also stated to be involved in the incident and we will arrest them, too,” said Pankaj Kumar, a police official in the Lakhisarai district. The police said that as per the statement given by the victim and her family members, the girl was forcibly abducted on Thursday night, when she had ventured out of her home for nature’s call. The accused persons, police said, have been identified by the victim as her neighbours.

Case lodged

A case has been lodged in this connection at the Chanan police station of the Lakhisarai district. “As per the report lodged with the police, the girl was taken to the Lakhochak railway halt, from where she was forced to board a train, and pushed out of it near Lakhisarai station…a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of police officials has been formed to arrest the accused persons,” said police official.

The victim, a Class X student, was first taken to a local private hospital, from where she was later referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for better treatment. She was allegedly not provided with a bed or prompt medical attention till local media intervened.
