J&K Police on Friday arrested chief of the radical women’s outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat in connection with a case registered against her under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

Firebrand separatist leader Asiya Andrabi, who heads the all-female group Dukhtaran-e-Milat, was arrested in Srinagar on Friday morning, a day after she was placed under house arrest in the city outskirts.

A close aide of Ms. Andrabi told The Hindu that a police party arrived at her home in Soura and took her to the Rambagh Police Station.

Ms. Andrabi, who slaughtered a cow after a court ordered banning the same, faces a number of FIRs in the Valley. She released a 1:15-minute video on September 10 wherein she slaughtered a cow to defy the beef ban.

She hogged headlines for >unfurling Pakistan flags and singing Pakistan anthem on two occasions since April this year, including one on August 14 to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Wife of incarcerated separatist leader Qasim Faktoo, who faces a life term, Ms. Andrabi on Thursday asked separatists to think “above shutdown politics”.
