A Mumbai-Jeddah Saudi Arabia Airlines flight with 270 passengers onboard has been grounded at the Mumbai airport since Monday morning due to some technical problems.

The flight SV-744 was originally scheduled at 8 a.m. yesterday from the airport here but was delayed due to a technical glitch, a Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) official said on Tuesday.

According to sources the airline has accommodated 248 stranded passengers in various hotels here. The rest 22 were flown by a connecting flight to Damascus.

A technical team, flown down from Saudi Arabia is working on the grounded aircraft, they said.

The aircraft, which has been stranded for more than 26 hours now, is expected to be fit for flying only by 5 p.m. today, they said.
