The order of a Gadchiroli court to shift Delhi University professor G.N. Saibaba out of a secluded anda cell in Nagpur central jail has not been complied with by the jail authorities, alleged his lawyer, Surendra Gadling.

The wheelchair-bound English professor, who was arrested in May 2014 for suspected Maoist links, is currently lodged in Nagpur central jail and has been kept in anda cell, an egg-shaped high security block.

“The court ordered that Saibaba be removed from anda cell. But even after 10 days of the order, the jail authorities have not complied with it. Despite being completely dependent on others, he has been kept in anda cell for over six months now,” claimed Saibaba’s lawyer.
