In the wake of the registration of a case against former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Robert Vadra, son-in-law of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, in a decade-old land deal case over the weekend, the Gurugram police have written to the State government seeking permission to initiate investigation.

ACP, Crime, Shamsher Singh, in a media briefing, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Manesar) wrote to the government on September 1 seeking permission for investigation, in view of the amendments in the Prevention of Corruption Act in July this year.

The case was registered at Khedki Daula police station on September 1.

Mr. Singh said investigation will begin only after permission is received.
