Red sanders worth Rs.5 cr seized near Puttur

Chittoor District Forest Department officials seized 3.4 tonnes of red sanders logs from a tipper that drove through the Gollapalle checkpost on the outskirts of Puttur. The vehicle with Tamil Nadu registration plates was later found abandoned at a tourist resort and the men in it fled.

The goods seized from it included 130 high-quality red sanders logs, said to be valued at Rs. 5 crore in the smuggling market.
