Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday made an impassioned plea to BJP patriarch L.K. Advani to reconsider his decision to quit all party posts, apparently frustrated at the national executive appointing Mr. Modi campaign committee chairman.

Hours after the BJP veteran dashed off a letter to party president Rajnath Singh announcing his resignation, Mr. Modi >tweeted , “Had a detailed conversation with Advani ji on phone. Urged him to change his decision. I hope he will not disappoint lakhs of Karyakartas.”

The Chief Minister said he also had a conversation with Mr. Singh and expressed his inability to attend the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting.

He tweeted, “Spoke to Rajnath-ji. In such a short time cannot reach the Parliamentary Board Meeting but will stand by whatever decision the Board takes.”
