‘Ram temple will be a real tribute to Singhal’

November 23, 2015 02:23 am | Updated November 16, 2021 04:20 pm IST - New Delhi:

A programme held in the memory of late VHP leader Ashok Singhal turned into a platform for espousing the cause of a Ram temple in Ayodhya, with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat saying that striving to fulfil Singhal’s resolve for a temple there would be a “real tribute” to him.

“He had two resolves in life: rebuilding Ram temple in Ayodhya and spreading Vedic wisdom in the world. Real tribute to him will be putting our complete strength towards fulfilling both these resolves,” the RSS chief said.

BJP president Amit Shah credited Singhal with being “the architect of the biggest mass movement in India post-independence” — a reference to the Ram temple movement.

Veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi said “Ram and Bharat” were synonymous, and praised Singhal’s “spiritualism.”

VHP working president Pravin Togadia put the onus on building the Ram temple on the Narendra Modi government, calling for a Central law to achieve the same.
