Rail concession for differently abled extended

May 27, 2011 02:29 am | Updated 02:29 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Orthopaedic or paraplegic persons and their escorts can now avail themselves of a 25 per cent concession while travelling on Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains as well from June 1.

Following up the budget announcement, the Railway Board on Thursday issued a notification extending the concession in third-AC and chair-car fares for these two categories of differently abled persons and one assisting escort.

While retaining the other terms and conditions for their travel, the Railways maintained that the facility would be available on tickets purchased on and after June 1.

There would be no refund of or difference in fares on tickets already purchased for travel on and after June 1.
