The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) did not arrest, detain or interrogate Abdul Samad Mohammed Zarrar Sidibapa in connection with the blast in Pune's German Bakery, and he was booked only under the Arms Act, counsel for Samad, Mubin Solkar, said here on Tuesday.

He was addressing a press conference, at which Abdul Samad was present. “Mein meri family aur mere vakil ka shukriya ada karte hoon. Aap sab yahan aaye, mein aapka bhi shukriya ada karta hoon” (I thank my family, my lawyer [for supporting me]. I also thank all of you [the journalists] for coming here). These were the only words Samad uttered after the journalists urged him to speak.
