Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 72; leaders extend wishes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 72 on September 17, with politicians and dignitaries extending their best wishes to him.

BJP is planning to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on Saturday, with all district level offices of the party being asked to organise a "Sewa Pakhwara" or service camp for the next 16 days

Mr. Modi will be speaking at four programmes linked to diverse fields, including the release of cheetahs brought from Namibia in a Madhya Pradesh national park.

Wishing him, President Droupadi Murmu said the work for nation-building under his incomparable hardwork, dedication and creativity continue to advance.

 Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar greeted Mr. Modi saying his transformative vision and inspirational leadership have elevated ‘Bharat’ to newer heights of glory.

“Warm birthday greetings to Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri @narendramodi Ji. His transformative vision and inspirational leadership have elevated Bharat to newer heights of glory. May he be blessed with good health, happiness & many more years in the service of our nation,” he tweeted.

Opposition leaders, including Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar of the NCP, Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also wished him.

Mr. Modi's ministerial colleagues paid fulsome tributes to his leadership and administrative acumen as they wished him on his birthday.

Home Minister Amit Shah hailed him as the flag-bearer of Indian culture who has connected the country to its roots and led it forward in every field.

Under his farsighted leadership, India has emerged as a world power and he has distinguished himself as a global leader respected by the world, Mr. Shah said.

Mr. Modi's life symbolises service and dedication, he said, calling him the builder of a secure, strong and 'aatmanirbhar' new India.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said his leadership has boosted progress and good governance like never before and taken India's prestige and self-respect to a new high.

He has given a new dimension to Indian politics and given importance to the poor's welfare along with development, Mr. Singh said.

Rahul, Jagan, KCR greet PM

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also greeted the Prime Minister “Wishing PM Narendra Modi a happy birthday,” Mr. Gandhi tweeted.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conveyed his birthday wishes to Mr. Modi through Twitter. ‘Warm birthday greetings and best wishes to Honourable PM Sri @narendramodi ji. May God bless him with good health and long life’, the Chief Minister stated in his message. 

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan conveyed greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. “I pray Lord Jagannath and Lord Venkateswara to shower their blessings on you for a fruitful and long life, good health, joy and happiness and lead the nation to greater heights,” the Governor said in a message sent to the Prime Minister.

“I, along with the people of Andhra Pradesh, with pleasure and privilege convey our warm greetings to you on your birthday. As the country is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ commemorating 75 years of Independence, the Nation is marching ahead and scaling greater heights in all key development sectors,” the Governor said.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. “On behalf of the government and people of Telangana and my personal behalf, I wish you a very Happy Birthday. May the God bless you with good health and long life for serving the nation for many more years,” Mr. KCR said in a letter addressed to Mr. Modi.

Posting a photo of the Prime Minister on his Twitter site, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi said he extended, on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu, his best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a long and healthy life in service of the nation.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin tweeted: “Birthday Greetings to Hon’ble Prime Minister Thiru @NarendraModi. Wishing you a long and healthy life.”

Similarly former Tamil Nadu CM and AIADMK’s interim general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami exxtended his “heartfelt greetings to the “dynamic & visionary Hon Prime Minister Thiru @narendramodi Avl on his birthday,” in a tweet.

“May your vision & mission for our nation to lead the world shape into reality. I pray the almighty for a long, healthy life of duty & service. @PMOIndia,” he said.

Punjab, Haryana, Kerala CM, Odisha CMs greet PM

 Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his counterpart in Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar greeted the Prime Minister.

“Greetings to Prime Minister of the country @narendramodi ji on his birthday,” Mr. Mann said in his tweet.

“Birthday greetings to respected @narendramodi ji, who undertook a historic journey from a worker to the post of Prime Minister on the strength of selfless service,” Mr. Khattar said in a tweet.

Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also greeted the PM.

“Warm birthday greetings to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji. May god bless you with a long & healthy life in the service of our nation,” he said in a tweet.

Kerala Governor Arif Muhmmad Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday, September 17, 2022, greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 72nd birthday. Mr. Khan told reporters in Kochi that he conveyed his best wishes to Mr. Modi.

Mr. Vijayan tweeted: “Dear @narendramodi ji, warm wishes on your birthday”.

“Warm greetings to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji on birthday. Wishing you good health and long life,” Odisha CM Patnaik said on Twitter.

In a greeting message to the Prime Minister, Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said he was “extremely happy to extend warm greetings to a truly visionary leader whom the nation is proud to have at the critical juncture.” “

An RSS pracharak from a young age, Mr. Modi was drafted into the BJP's organisation and later became Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001.

He led the BJP to win in three consecutive Gujarat assembly polls in 2002, 2007 and 2012 and then in the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 and 2019.
